The magic of Nature is all around us. Sometimes these magical energies take the form of the Fae. Gentle, powerful, kind and mischevious spirits are all part of this seldom visible realm of Nature's children.
They love morning dew, mossy hillocks, shaded glens and humans who grant them respect but leave them alone. Some will say they are fantasy and some swear they have seen them, who is to say what is real? Faeries live in hearts of children and dreamers. May they always fill our hearts with joy and delight.
Soft winds blow across the hills
Fae Folk dance beneath the rising Moon
Mushrooms sprout to form a magical ring
Sacred trees watch this wonderous thing
The grace and the power as Faeries sing
To win the favor of Faeries it is said "Leave them a bit of cake or bread" "Leave them honey or mead or wine"
A nice saucer of milk is always fine And sparkly things are quite a treat Tiny houses, gems and bits of lace Always puts a smile on a Faery face.
Danu's Dance
Warm and moist beneath the hill
voices and laughter are soft and shrill
glints of light and shadows long move
dancing & merrying the long night thru
Danu's children in morning emerge anew
Slumber and waking each in their time
music and laughter interlace and combine
earnest crafts folk of diminutive size
dance with creativity before the eyes
and tumbling out the treasures come
The land is quiet and still above
no hint of the secrets within the hill
honey flows and mead is good
this place between, below & above
the magic is and always was
Words are treasures polished bright
poems by day and rhythms by night
interlaces adorn each glowing page
painted in berry juice, pollen & gall
words slide into being for one and all
Words of Danu, Druides and Sages
thoughts and truths for the coming ages
never a care or woe is penned here
the land above is sleepwalking near
beneath the hill each word is dear
Warm and moist beneath the hill
voices and laughter are seldom still
glints of light and flashes of fire glow
open secrets all the wee folks know
Danu's children are spun of light

A wonderful Fairy Book for children of all ages is "Queen Zixi of Ix" by Frank Baum, author of the "Wizard of Oz". Arthur Rackham is an artist whose paintings of Faeries are especially sensitive and loved by all. You can find his Faery Art in any good-sized bookstore.
There are a number of Pagan Traditions that follow the Faery Faith. Some work with
"people of the hill", the ancient Tuatha de Danann, who honored the Goddess Danu.
Faery Rings and Faery Trees are often spoken of and held in great reverence.
There are stories of the Fae in all cultures, the best known being the Fae of Celtic lands. Many well respected and notable people have believed in the Fae, including Gerald Gardner and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Although most of us will never see the Fae, their presence can be unmistakeably felt in many places, where Nature flourishes, so do the Faery Folk.
The community of Findhorn is one such place that has sought the favors of the Fae.
The bountiful crops and magical energies of this land have been well documented
in a number of books and articles. A website that you might enjoy that deals with
Nature spirits and their connection to Findhorn. .
There are several delightful films that tell tales of faery magic including "A Fairy Story", "Into the West" and "The Secret of Roan Inish". Both films call forth Faery magick. "Into the West" is my personal favorite, although the Fae are never directly seen in this film, their presence spins this tale of two young Irish Traveler boys and a Faery horse who is named Tir Na Nog.
The popular TV show "The Highlander" is another example of Fae Magic and Lore in our contemporary cultural. Duncan McCloud was shunned by his family who thought him to be a Faery Changeling. Such tales speak to our long association with the Faery.
