Herbal Healing
Herbs bring us the healing powers of the Earth. The complex magic of the plant world offers us an abundant source of healing properties. Indigenous peoples around the world have understood these powerful allies for generations.
A hundred years ago, the average cottage in almost every country, had a carefully tended herb garden growing. It provided the necessary medicines for the family. In Asia, South America, Africa, and rural Europe there are still those who understand and are skilled in the traditional arts of Herbalism. In America there is a growing respect for the power of herbs and skilled herbalists.
Some widely used herbs today are Comfrey, St John's Wort, Dill, Slippery Elm Bark, Coltsfoot, Golden Seal, Vervain, Eyebright, Ginseng, Valerian, Corn Silk, Yellow Dock, Skullcap, Borage, Uva Ursi and many others.
Herbs are powerful healers, but they can also be very toxic if used incorrectly. Before using herbs it is important to consult with a trained herbaliist or reserarch very thoroughly.
Susan Weed is a widely respected herbalist in the USA, and teaches the ancient science of herbalism to a new generation of practicioners. |
